What we stand for

Mobility help for Disabled people is a disabled people’s organisation based in the London Borough of Southwark. Formed and registered in 2006, the organisation has established itself as a grassroots organisation for disable and older people of African origin

We work for the empowerment of our members and ensure they are provided with information and support that will enable them live independent and fulfilled lives while fully being included in the British society. We support disabled and older people with a number of services and projects including information and advice, befriending and visitation, advocacy, socializing, spots and organizing training workshops and events.

The project is seeking to increase engagement of BME disabled people and older people of African heritage and origin with services and encourage their full participation in society

This project is in no way seeking to discriminate against any community or group of people. Much as Disabled people from other communities may benefit from the project, the issues of limited involvement, participation and accessing services, weigh heavily against disable and older people of African heritage and origin for a number of inexcusable reasons including language, religion, culture, traditional myths and perception of mainstream service provision.
